When you feel fatigued at the gym do you consider the use of nitric oxide supplements? Before we get into that, let's see if this sounds familiar: You have been working out steadily for about six weeks and your workouts seem to have hit a plateau. You are still giving your workouts an exhausting amount of energy, but your body doesn't seem to be responding the same to the intense exercise as it was even weeks ago. You are frustrated and need to find something that will help you break out of the plateau and move back into the results you were seeing early on. Changing up your workout may really help your body to get out of the learned response your body is producing. Another very helpful, but not often considered option, is a supplement containing nitric oxide, also known as l-arginine supplements.

Well, let's look at nitric oxide a little closer. First, nitric oxide, what is it? Second, what does nitric oxide do for your body? Nitric oxide (commonly abbreviated as NO) is a relatively new discovery in the scientific field. It has only been studied in great detail for about the last twenty years. First discovered in 1977, extensive study of NO did not occur until about the 1990's. NO is a gas produced naturally by the body. This molecule consists of one nitrogen atom and one oxygen atom. NO's production and distribution to the body is regulated by the thalamus. Currently, there are over 200 government-funded trials underway to discover how the body utilizes NO and what effects nitric oxide supplements might have on the body.

So, what is NO? Nitric oxide is a gas naturally produced by the body until about 40 years of age. It helps to regulate and maintain many of the body's organs, including the heart, lungs, and circulatory system. After the age of 40, when we start to see major declines in the health of major body systems, nitric oxide production steadily decreases as well. New studies have confirmed that this may not just be coincidental. NO production may very well be one of the major factors that contribute to aging. In fact, the most recent studies that have been released have indications for nitric oxide supplements helping with memory loss, erectile dysfunction, asthma, and a host of other conditions. This is in addition to the well researched benefits that l-arginine supplements have already shown on cardiovascular, circulatory, and cancer.

How does nitric oxide work and what does that mean for your workouts? Because nitric oxide is a vasodialator, it causes blood vessels to expand rather than constrict. Blood can then flow more quickly and in greater volumes to all areas of the body. For example, in your workouts, in order to keep proper levels of oxygen, muscles require greater blood volume and circulation. Increased levels of NO within the body produce a quick recovery time, reduce fatigue during high rep exercises, enhanced endurance, increase energy levels, and increase muscle pump. Maybe this is the way to break through that plateau and make increase productivity of your workouts once more, right?

Nitric oxide supplements, also known as l-arginine supplements, increase oxygen levels and blood flow within the body to naturally produce better results than workouts alone.
